Lewis and Clark Regional Water System The Lewis and Clark Project was incorporated in 1990 and was authorized by Congress in 2000. This large-scale wholesale water system will collect and distribute up to 45 million gallons per day when completed to 20 member cities and rural water systems in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. The Lewis and Clark Project uses wells in an aquifer adjacent to the Missouri River to treat and distribute through 337 miles of pipeline.
