Lagoon-based treatment systems are effective but often have elements with the potential to limit economic growth. » Increasing lagoon treatment capacity requires more acres of real estate. » Nutrients like ammonia and phosphorus can be treated by traditional lagoon treatment style but require some advanced technology to accommodate. » Lagoon-based treatment systems are limited by the types and quantities of contaminants that economic growth opportunities may present.
