EXISTING CONDITIONS
Existing roadway system conditions vary based on the context of the surrounding economies, environment, communities, and cultures. When comparing the State's year over year pavement conditions, they have steadily improved over the last 25 years. The percent of lane miles in excellent or good conditions has increased and the percent in fair or poor conditions has decreased. Similarly, the number of State‑owned structures in poor condition has decreased from over 140 in 2003 to less than 40 in 2022. Trends are not expected to remain the same based on current funding levels. The table to the right shows current and anticipated future pavement and bridge conditions based on current funding levels.
